Rachel Weisz: the gorgeous face of Bulgari Serpenti

I have had a thing about the beautiful Rachel Weisz since her career breakthrough appearance in The Mummy back in 1999.

Now as the face of Bulgari’s current advertising campaign she gets to smoulder in some of the most amazing jewellery imaginable.

Here is Weisz modelling the Bulgari Serpenti in an ad campaign set to run all the way through into 2013.

You can also watch the behind the scenes video...

Alas the gorgeous London-born Rachel Weisz is now married to James Bond, well to Daniel Craig, and made quite an appearance at the recent Skyfall premier, where she met the royals while wearing Chanel couture.

Florence Welch wears Bulgari Serpenti for Spectrum

Watchmaker Bulgari has a history of snake watches thanks to the Serpenti range dating back to the 1940s. But in its latest appearance the serpent coils seductively around the wrist of Florence Welch, lead singer of Florence and the Machine (right).

Keep an eye on the breathtaking video of the Calvin Harris remix for Florence’s acclaimed Spectrum (Say My Name) and you will see this gorgeous gold timepiece at various points.

Florence Welch cites her own influences as ranging from Stevie Nicks of Fleetwood Mac fame to the more robust if no less sexy Grace Slick of Jefferson Airship and Jefferson Starship.

But the Bulgari Serpenti watch, probably one of the most beautiful of all ladies' watches, is probably better known for its association with supreme sex siren Elizabeth Taylor, who was famously photographed wearing a jewelled version of the timepiece while taking a break from the filming of Cleopatra back in the early 1960s.

The juxtaposition of Egyptian monarch and gold serpent was an appropriate one. Following the discovery of Tutankhamen’s tomb in 1922, Bulgari was among the first to introduce themes from the rediscovered treasures into its jewellery, the coiled serpent bracelet among them.

In the late 1940s, designers at Bulgari took the next step of inserting a watch into the snake’s mouth, and created an iconic piece of jewellery which has evolved and appeared in new guises ever since.

Omega launches special edition Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M watch for James Bond Skyfall

Daniel Craig’s James Bond stuck to an Omega wristwatch for the Skyfall movie, and the watch manufacturer duly rose to the occasion with a new commemorative timepiece.

There is only one commemorative watch being produced for the 23rd Bond movie, making it just that much more valuable and desirable. It is based on the black steel-on-steel 42 mm Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M that Bond wears in the film with, as Q would say, “modifications”.

Now pay attention please: this Omega Seamaster is powered by OMEGA's new Co-Axial calibre 8507. The movement is visible through a transparent sapphire crystal ‘porthole’ set into the brushed screw-in caseback. On the self-winding rotor, etched in black, are the words ‘SKYFALL 007’.

On the dial, at the 7 o’clock position, is the familiar 007 and gun logo and the agent’s number can also be found on the bracelet clasp. Just 5,007 of this unique Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M SKYFALL will be produced.

Like every Omega 007 Limited Edition timepiece, this wristwatch embodies the rugged, classy and stylish characteristics that James Bond shares with OMEGA.

Find out more about the Omega, James Bond, Skyfall connection and the special editions worn by successive Bonds on the Omega website.

More news: the original of the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M that Bond wears in the film sold at auction last month for a stunning US$250,000, with the money going to the ORBIS charity.
