Sachin Tendulkar, Michael Schumacher go for Audemars Piguet luxury

Sachin Tendulkar visits Audemars Piguet's workshops
Swiss-based luxury watchmakers Audemars Piguet manufacture some of the world’s most expensive timepieces. Bloomberg once reported on a Jules Audemars Grande Complication model priced at a cool US$780,600.

And the firm has a stable of sporting ambassadors of equal class, among them seven-times champion Formula One racing driver MichaelSchumacher and world-renowned former Indian cricket captain Sachin Tendulkar.

Sachin Tendulkar became the first batsmen to score 100 hundreds at international level when he scored his 100th century in March 2012. He is the most successful cricketer in history, and was part of the winning Indian team in the 2011 world cup.

After visiting the company’s headquarters, Sachin Tendulkar recalled: “I always enjoy spending time in the workshops listening to the watchmakers talk about how they make the different parts of the watch I am wearing. They are all incredibly passionate about their profession and that is what I can associate with.

“The part of the visit that really got my heart pumping was when I was given a watch movement to assemble. Watchmaking is a highly skilled craft and I feel privileged to have been able to be part of it even more so this year that Audemars Piguet celebrates 40 years since the birth of its iconic model. I feel immensely proud and honoured that one of the unique pieces displayed in the Royal Oak 40 years exhibition is the limited edition bearing my name.”

Obama on the run? He's got a Fitbit Surge

Barack Obama may not yet have been spotted with an Apple Watch, but he is bang on trend with his new Fitbit Surge.

The US President was first spotted wearing the fitness device in early March 2015, and has kept up wearing it ever since. Which makes him an early adopter as the device was only launched in the US in January 2015.

Obama's Fitbit surge is clearly visible in a recent interview with the Huffington Post.

And here's what it looks like when it is not on the President's wrist.

Pierce Brosnan becomes ambassador for Speake-Marin

World-renowned actor Pierce Brosnan is now, and for the next three years, the official ambassador of the Speake-Marin brand.

Pierce Brosnan is probably one of the best-known Irish actors worldwide. From his first scenes in Remington Steele to the famous Thomas Crown, and including his iconic role as James Bond, Pierce Brosnan has played many roles, embracing classical repertoires, comedies and thrillers.

In 2015, the actor will appear on cinema screens in The Moon and the Sun, It, Last Man Out and Survivor.

The relationship began when Peter Speake-Marin met the actor on the set of one of his latest films for which he had been selected by Director James McTeigue (V for Vendetta, The Raven…). This meeting of two artistic worlds, films and watches, developed into a genuine friendship.

Sharing the same roots as Peter Speake-Marin and his passion for watchmaking combined with an admiration for the Swiss brand's timepieces, Pierce Brosnan was a natural choice as the ideal ambassador for the brand.

'I met Peter on the set of a film in which he was a consultant for a character who was a watchmaker. We spoke briefly; we both love what we do, and myself as a lover of watches I appreciated his genuine passion and subsequent designs. I acquired one of his time pieces and a dialogue ensued. When Peter asked me to be an ambassador for his work it was a simple answer.`

The renowned Swiss photographer Marco Grob shot the campaign in his New York studio. Elegance, simplicity, independence and courage are the values shared by the watchmaking brand and the actor, and he has succeeded in capturing all of these. Pierce Brosnan will embody Speake-Marin.
